WWE released never-before-seen footage of John Cena’s farewell, and a 28-year veteran was visibly distraught.

After losing to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cena soaked in the admiration and respect from the WWE Universe at the Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C. The stadium was filled with endless cheers and applause from the fans as the legendary career of the 17-time world champion officially came to a close. Minutes later, several WWE Superstars and backstage personnel arrived to join The Last Real Champion in his final moments as a wrestler. Then, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes gave their titles to Cena, which made the crowd erupt. Afterward, a video package was played from the tron featuring messages from a couple of superstars and those who were very close to his heart. However, there’s an unseen highlight from The Last Real Champion’s final swansong that the Stamford-based promotion just posted.

In the footage, John Cena was bowing to the Washington, D.C crowd on all four sides. A father and son had tears in their eyes, and the camera quickly panned out to long-time play-by-play man, Michael Cole.

The 28-year veteran couldn’t look straight at the ring as he was filled with emotion. He then made a salute to Cena as his way of saying goodbye.
